Tauriko & The Lakes' Local Fencing and Deck Builders

Tauriko Fencing Design & Build

Klinks is based in Tauriko — this is our patch. We've built fences, decks, retaining walls, and gates across Tauriko and The Lakes since the first residential stages opened, and we know this area better than any other fencing company in Tauranga.

From the covenant requirements in The Lakes to the commercial security fencing at the Tauriko Business Estate, we understand what's required here — the materials, the rules, and the conditions. If you're in Tauriko or The Lakes, you're not calling a company that services your area — you're calling the one that works here every week.

Fencing in Tauriko & The Lakes

Tauriko and The Lakes are covenant-controlled developments, which means your fence isn't just a style choice — it needs to meet specific developer requirements around height, colour, and material before a single post goes in the ground.

We know these covenants inside out. Before we quote, we check what applies to your section so there are no surprises after the build — no requests to pull down non-compliant work, no disputes with your body corporate or developer. We get it right the first time.

Covenant-compliant fencing we install in Tauriko and The Lakes:

  • Aluminium Slat Fencing is the most popular choice in The Lakes. Clean horizontal lines, available in covenant-approved colours including Grey Friars and Ironsand, and completely rust-proof — no maintenance required beyond an occasional wash-down.

  • Stabi Composite Fencing suits homeowners who want the look of timber without the upkeep. It won't warp, fade, or require painting, making it well-suited to the exposed ridge sections in Tauriko where UV and wind take their toll on lesser materials.

  • Timber Fencing in H3.2 and H4 treated pine remains popular for side and rear boundaries where covenants are less restrictive. We specify the correct treatment grade for every component — H4 for all ground-contact posts, H3.2 for rails and boards.

  • Glass Pool Fencing is in high demand across The Lakes as more homeowners complete their sections with pools. We install frameless and semi-frameless glass systems using toughened safety glass and marine-grade hardware, fully compliant with TCC pool barrier requirements.

  • PVC Fencing offers a clean, white finish that suits the contemporary architecture common across Tauriko's newer stages and requires zero maintenance in our high-UV environment.

Commercial & Security Fencing:
Tauriko Business Estate

Klinks handles commercial and security fencing throughout the Tauriko Business Estate — one of the Bay of Plenty's fastest growing commercial and industrial precincts.

We install:

  • Commercial security fencing for warehouses, yards, and industrial sites — steel palisade, chain mesh, and high-security panel systems designed to deter and withstand.

  • Automated security gates for vehicle access control — sliding gates, swing gates, and boom gates integrated with intercoms, keypads, and remote access systems.

  • Perimeter fencing for commercial developments requiring defined boundaries, aesthetic street presence, and compliance with Tauranga City Council commercial zone requirements.

If you're a developer, business owner, or project manager working in or around the Tauriko Business Estate, we're five minutes away and happy to quote same week.

Deck Building in Tauriko & The Lakes

Tauriko and The Lakes sections are designed for outdoor living — wide lots, good orientation, and the kind of views over the Tauranga basin that make a well-positioned deck genuinely special.

We build decks across all stages of Tauriko and The Lakes, from ground-level entertaining platforms on flat sections to elevated decks on the ridge-line properties that look out over the city. Many of these sites require careful subframe engineering to manage the slope and maximise the usable deck area — something we do regularly across this terrain.

  • Decking materials suited to Tauriko conditions:Composite decking is our most popular recommendation for Tauriko and The Lakes. The ridge-line sections in particular get strong UV and wind exposure — composite handles both without the maintenance cycle that timber demands. Hidden clip system as standard for a clean, fastener-free finish.

  • Kwila and Garapa hardwood for homeowners who want the prestige of a natural timber deck. Both species handle UV and weather well and develop a beautiful character over time with occasional oiling.

  • Premium H3.2 pine for cost-effective builds on sheltered or shaded sections where the conditions are less demanding.

All decks are built to NZ Building Code requirements. If your deck will be over 1.0 metre high — common on Tauriko's sloped sections — we'll advise on balustrade requirements and consent thresholds before work begins.

Retaining Walls in Tauriko

Tauriko's topography means retaining is often part of the conversation before fencing or decking can even begin. The ridge sections in particular involve significant level changes between the house platform and the boundary.

We design and build timber and concrete sleeper retaining walls integrated with fencing — managing the cumulative height rules that apply when a fence sits on top of a retaining wall. Get this wrong and you can inadvertently trigger a building consent requirement — we make sure the design accounts for this from the start.

Gates & Automatic Gates — Tauriko & The Lakes

The Lakes in particular has strong demand for automatic driveway gates — the combination of higher-value properties, wider driveways, and security-conscious homeowners makes automatic entry a popular addition to new builds and renovations alike.

We install sliding and swing gate systems with motor, intercom, keypad, and remote access options. All gate installations are designed to complement your fence and meet any applicable covenant requirements around gate style and colour.

Wind Zones & Material Specification in Tauriko

This matters more than most homeowners realise. Tauriko sits on an exposed ridge above the Tauranga basin and is classified under NZ Building Code wind zone requirements that affect post depth, concrete footing specification, and panel bracing. A fence installed without accounting for the local wind zone will move, lean, and fail prematurely — often within a few years.

We specify every Tauriko fence correctly for its wind zone from the outset. That means deeper posts, appropriate concrete footings, and braced corners where the exposure demands it. It costs the same to do it right — the difference is how long it lasts.
